Keeping your family secure on the road is always our top priority. Recently, a safety recall was issued concerning the front passenger seat occupant detection system in certain compact trucks. Under National Highway Traffic Safety Administration campaign 26V201000 and Ford recall 26C19, a total of 3,170 vehicles are affected, including 1,655 Maverick pickup trucks built between August 8, 2025, and September 11, 2025. The core issue involves a potentially broken bladder port on the front passenger seat Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS) assembly. When this component cracks or breaks, the system cannot reliably determine who is sitting in the passenger seat. If the sensor fails to detect an adult or child correctly, it may deactivate the front passenger airbag or cause it to deploy with incorrect force during a collision. This malfunction increases the risk of injury during a crash and fails to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208. At our dealership, our factory-certified technicians are fully prepared to resolve this safety concern. We understand that taking time out of your busy schedule for service can be challenging. Because recalls are tied directly to individual vehicle identification numbers (VINs), not every truck manufactured during the model year will require a repair. To verify your vehicle's status, you will need to locate your 17-digit VIN, which is stamped on a metal plate visible through the lower driver-side corner of the windshield, and is also printed on your registration card or insurance documents. For families navigating the rolling hills of Calcutta, ensuring every safety system is active is critical for peace of mind during weekend trips to Beaver Creek. Once you have your VIN, you can input it directly into the NHTSA recall lookup tool or contact our service department to have an advisor check the database for you. Our database will display any open, unrepaired recalls associated with your specific vehicle. While you are verifying your safety recall status, it is a highly practical opportunity to look over your vehicle's overall maintenance health. Extreme weather can place extra strain on your vehicle's electrical components, making a routine battery inspection and service a smart preventative measure. We also encourage owners to browse our current monthly service offers to save on routine maintenance during their visit. If you have questions about factory-backed warranty coverage or extended service plans, our finance department can help clarify your administrative options. Scheduling Your Free OCS Recall Repair and What to Expect Owners will not have to pay a single cent to have this safety recall resolved. Under federal regulations, all safety recall repairs must be completed entirely free of charge by authorized dealerships. For this specific campaign, the remedy requires our certified technicians to replace the entire front passenger seat OCS assembly with a brand-new, redesigned unit. When customers bring their trucks in, they often ask what paperwork or items they need to provide. We tell owners that they only need to bring their vehicle and a driver's license, though bringing the official Ford recall notification letter can help speed up the check-in process. The repair involves carefully removing the front passenger seat, installing the new sensor assembly, and calibrating the system to ensure it accurately detects passenger weight. To ensure a seamless experience, we recommend scheduling your appointment in advance so we can verify that the necessary replacement components are ready for your vehicle. You can easily book your recall service appointment online to secure a convenient time slot. Our technicians coordinate directly with our parts department to ensure the correct factory-certified components are reserved for your truck. If you are planning to add custom utility features to your truck during your visit, you can also discuss a custom vehicle order with our parts and accessories specialists. Long-Term Maintenance for Maverick Hybrid and EcoBoost Powertrains The 2025 Maverick is available with two distinct powertrains: a 2.5-liter gas/electric hybrid paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) producing 191 horsepower, and a 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission delivering 250 horsepower. The XL, XLT, and Lariat trims offer a choice of either powertrain, while the performance-oriented Lobo and off-road Tremor trims are equipped exclusively with the EcoBoost engine. Maintenance requirements vary significantly between these two setups. The hybrid model, which achieves an EPA-estimated 38 mpg combined with front-wheel drive and 37 mpg combined with all-wheel drive, utilizes regenerative braking. This technology captures kinetic energy to charge the hybrid battery, which dramatically reduces wear on the brake pads and rotors. Conversely, the EcoBoost engine, which returned 25 mpg in real-world testing, requires more frequent oil changes and spark plug inspections due to the higher thermal stresses of turbocharging. Commuters driving from Boardman for their daily highway trips to Youngstown benefit from the hybrid's efficient regenerative braking system, which significantly extends brake pad life compared to traditional setups. If you are researching these powertrains to see which fits your driving habits, you can browse our current truck inventory to compare features. We also feature new vehicle offers on various models to help you find the best value for your budget. Towing Maintenance and Durability: Maverick vs. Santa Cruz When properly equipped, the Maverick offers a maximum towing capacity of 4,000 pounds and a payload capacity of 1,500 pounds. In comparison, the rival Hyundai Santa Cruz boasts a higher maximum towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds. However, the Maverick comes better equipped for towing straight from the factory, offering an integrated trailer brake controller—a crucial safety feature that is not available on the Santa Cruz. Regularly towing heavy loads puts additional strain on your truck's mechanical components. If you frequently haul trailers, our service team recommends more frequent transmission fluid exchanges and comprehensive suspension inspections to prevent premature wear on the front lower control arm ball joints. Keeping your trailer wiring and integrated trailer module updated is also essential to prevent communication losses that can disable trailer brakes and turn signals. For drivers who require even greater commercial hauling capabilities, we maintain a robust inventory of used work trucks designed for heavy-duty tasks. Quick Answers About Maverick Recalls and Maintenance Q: What should I do if my Maverick is affected by the lower control arm recall? If your vehicle is included in recall 26V340000 (Ford recall 26S36), which involves potentially faulty front lower control arm ball joints, Ford advises owners not to drive their vehicles. You should contact us immediately to arrange for towing or mobile service to inspect and repair the ball joints free of charge. Q: What is the difference between a safety recall and a Customer Satisfaction Program? A safety recall is initiated to remedy a specific safety or compliance concern and does not expire, meaning the repair remains free for the life of the vehicle. A Customer Satisfaction Program is a voluntary upgrade or warranty extension for a specific component that often has strict time and mileage limitations. Q: How do I know if my Maverick's tires are wearing unevenly due to suspension alignment? Uneven tread wear, steering wheel vibration, or a vehicle that pulls to one side often indicate that your front suspension is out of alignment. You can use our online tire finder to locate replacement options or schedule an alignment check with our service team to prevent premature tire wear. Q: Can I get a refund if I previously paid to fix an issue that is now covered by a recall? Yes, if you paid out of pocket to repair a component—such as the occupant classification sensor—before the official recall was announced, you may be eligible for a reimbursement. You will need to provide your original repair receipts and documentation to our service advisors to submit a claim to the manufacturer. Q: Are there any special maintenance offers available for commercial fleet vehicles? We offer dedicated support and standard maintenance programs for local businesses and fleet operators. You can view our manufacturer vehicle specials or browse our new work truck inventory to find vehicles and service plans tailored to your commercial needs.
